The Windmill Massacre (2016) Review

Is an English language Dutch slasher movie directed by Nick Jongerius.

Plot:

A tour group bus gets broken down by a windmill that is haunted by an avenging demon.

I didn't find that movie to be memorable. The story isn't anything too interesting, with people getting standard in an isolated environment with a killer lurking around. I do think it's interesting how the killer is after people who committed a sin and the backstory behind him. But the movie doesn't really explore it that much and isn't that fully flesh-out throughout. Also, the movie gets pretty predictable with the characters' actions and the stuff that happened. But I do like the scenes where the characters are seeing things they did in the past and why they were there in the first place. The climax itself is fine, but nothing too big happened during it. But there is one unexpected moment that happens at the end of it.

I found the characters to be mostly one-dimensional throughout. While they do have backstories they revealed later in the movie, most of them play tropes you see in any slasher movies out there with expectation of one. The acting is fine, but nothing too big to talk about.

The kill count of the movie is about 9 kills, and they're pretty brutal. Each of the deaths is extremely graphic on how the killer kills his victims and is pretty brutal on how he does it. The movie contains pretty good practical gore effects to be found in it. We also see the killer face, which isn't the worst I have seen, but it doesn't look impressive.

The Windmill Massacre is a medicore slasher movie that has brutal kills and an interesting idea, but it isn't that memorable to watch again.
