A Thank You For My Childhood :tv: THIS IS OUR ERA :tada: :clap:

Firstly, I want to start this blog by saying that both Monkey D. Luffy & Naruto Uzumaki have been around since I was a younger. I feel most of us new gen anime fans just grew up in this era of the big three to like Attack On Titan & so on. THIS IS OUR ERA :clap: I’m a little bit more biased towards Naruto because that was the first real anime I’ve ever seen besides the Pokémon anime series & franchise that aired way before I was born. Around the same time as One Piece I guess? Idk I might have the timeline fucked up, but Naruto was it for me!

Naruto was the powerhouse of all powerhouses for me just due to his confidence, relatability & spirit. Naruto was an outcast who wanted to make his dreams come true no matter how impossible it felt. I had heard about One Piece & Luffy during this time as well but I’m not sure why I didn’t become hooked on it like I did with Naruto. Naruto was posterized so heavily that I couldn’t even go to a Gamestop, Mall, School or whatever without seeing some Ad or game lol. Naruto was & is a household name in the world. The respect I have for both #Oda is unreal . There is NO comparison in the talent, just in the characters. :pray: Thanks to them, we grew up a little more happier & entertained. Just who hit harder for EVERYONE though?

🤜Which One Is More Relatable?🤛

This is a tough question to answer because you could say that they are both relatable to some extent. Obviously it’s just anime so everything is exaggerated and made to be humorous, but what is it that makes them stick & connect to us real people? I think it has something to do with heart & journey. We have seen both Naruto & Luffy go from Point A to Point B in a decade and that alone can make anyone feel like they’re part of the journey. We’ve been there! We witnessed!

The two are definitely relatable in the ways of being quirky & it appeals to everyone who just wants to let loose & be a dumbass every once in awhile lol. Both Luffy & Naruto aren’t the brightest characters and they both have had troubled stories that make us feel empathy. Naruto being an outcast because of the tailed demon beast inside him & Luffy being raised from person to person & was lookin for friends to call his own & help him follow his dreams. Both are big dreamers & that is a positive thing that would make any of us love them because we’re all tryna chase our dreams. The two tie in reliability for me! :100:

His Crew 🏴‍☠Or His Team 🥷: Who Has More Impact & Popularity?

Whew :dash: :joy: , again this is a hard one to debate because I think both of them are iconic but let me choose which on resonates better with me & my opinion. I’d have to say…NARUTO 🤷‍♂. Let me tell you why & you don’t have to agree. I just think Naruto’s Team 7 with Kakashi, Naruto, #Sasuke alone has do SO MUCH in the anime community. You can’t search up any popular thing anime related without seeing one of them lol. I’m trying to stay unbiased as possible even though Naruto hits home for me. It’s just after doing research, Naruto, Sasuke & Sakura have so much stand alone impact in the anime community.

Now let me counter argue that with Luffy’ straw hat crew! Just because I didn’t grow up a huge One Piece fan doesn’t mean I’ll disregard & lessen its value. I’ve done research to be fair & the comparisons will always be hard. Luffy & his crew have the same impact as Naruto when it comes to popularity because their popularity grew further over time. I feel like most anime fans my age would be quick to praise Naruto, Sakura & Sasuke because that’s just what it is & has been. It all depends on what anime you started with first. Luffy had a huge crew and the popular ones like himself, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Robin & Ussop stick out the most from a pole research. This one is for 2023!

I love anytime I see Naruto & Luffy cosplays because I guarantee you WILL see at least one person rocking either or at a convention or anime related event. I see lots of Halloween costumes as well of these two stars because they are just that impactful. I attended New York City Comic Con in 2022 and they were promoting One Piece like crazy. Having a whole World Tour! That’s impact for sure.

Even going so far to have the entire Times Square celebrate One Piece during that time as well. I wasn’t even that big as a One Piece fan then, then I am now. I see why people hold the series so dear and it’s not any lesser than Naruto. When I think of anime moments & memories, I can’t help but be drawn towards Naruto because of so many iconic fights he had, heartfelt moments he had & characters he dealt with that stuck out to me. Naruto always stays at the top of my list & it’s just because what I HAVE been exposed to for years. I have seen people do that Naruto “run” even till this day LMAOOOO. I feel Naruto & Luffy pushed through many walls set up by people who opposed anime and thought it was just for weird nerds. The impact is there, so who has the most?

It’s….Subjective?¿🤷‍♂

After writing this blog & doing research for a bit, I determined that this topic is DEFINITELY subjective. It’s all about where you started & who you started with! Naruto & Luffy mean a lot to the entire anime community but which one has the most reach is up to how YOU as a fan feels. That’s the point I was trying to make with this blog. Debates like these could go on forever but after tackling it myself, you really can’t compare something that’s really so subjective.

It’s very hard to determine just who, even with the countless stats. I think Naruto globally is just more of a household name but that’s just me🤷‍♂. Maybe some people don’t even know what he looks like but that name Naruto has stuck around for SO LONG. Again, that doesn’t mean Luffy is any less compared. I just feel like One Piece has a true core fanbase that the people who have been with it from the start can only truly understand Luffy’s impact. I could never discredit Oda or Kishimoto because they both worked hard and their impact as creators is undisputed. Shoutout to Tite Kubo too for Ichigo and I would of added him to the debate but I felt it would be all over the place. I know fans talk about Naruto & Luffy constantly and that’s why I chose these too. The impact is subjective but the love ain’t! :fire: :+1: :100:

One Of Their Kinds :point_up_2: :one: :point_up_2:

I can safely say that there will NEVER be another Naruto & Luffy and characters who bring the same smiles & rawness as they do. These characters feel more than just fiction and we can see that all around the world. Creators making other anime characters & main characters have been trying use Naruto & Luffy as a source & inspiration to make great anime. Characters with heart & determination.

You definitely feel Asta from BlackClover having reminisce of Luffy & Naruto’s goals and personality. Especially with the yelling! Shonen has big shoes to fill nowadays with anime & it’s just not the same to me as One Piece & Naruto. Even in Jujutsu Kaisen with their socery groups of three with Nobara, Yuji & Megumi , I immediately thought of Naruto, Sakura & Sasuke lmao. The impact is clear as day and so many creators took inspiration from Naruto & Luffy. It’s a cool thing to think about because it’s clear as day proving their impact on the world! I’m glad to have been a fan & grow up in this time period of such creativity & talent. So many things to do & see in this world to love & be inspired by.
